With school out for over a week, it’s given me time to take stock of my surroundings.
1) I read and finished Lee Stroble’s “The Case for Christ.” Excellent book. To sum it up, it’s about an atheist journalist who sets out to “investigate the evidence for Jesus” and ends up a Christian. Pretty much, he goes around to various experts of different fields and asks them all these difficult questions and they have to practice their apologetics skills.
As I read this, it made me think about how the belief in Christianity for many of those born into Christian families is taken solely upon faith. There’s not so much questioning as there is the knowing that they SHOULD believe in it. And yet, these experts have clearly shown that Jesus is not just a belief in blind faith. Instead, Christianity is based on many things and events that have been tested to be true and can thus be supported.
Makes reading the Bible have a different meaning.
2) Probably started because of that spontaneous discussion we had at Tenju’s the other night with Henry, James Lee (Mr. Relationships), Jenny, and Jess, I have been thinking a lot about marriage and dating relationships. Well that and the fact that next year’s apartment-mate Roy Sher is “no longer single,” as he puts it.
But looking at some family members and seeing how they interact, really puts into perspective “through sickness and in health.” Like the need to make the right choice to a person you could commit to regardless of what happens has become more evident to me.
I need to start praying for my relationships with certain people.
3) Music Ministry thus far has been extremely hectic, and yet, extremely rewarding. The past few weeks have taught me a lot about honesty and openness to each other. We say that we don’t need to hear apologies. But it’s still good to hear them, and to reassure each other that things are alright. And honesty… it’s been good for people to bring up certain issues up in the open instead of keeping them hidden and sounding all sketchy.
I need to be more open, more trusting with what I say to people. And to not forget about honesty when I work in public relations in the future.
Redesigning Trace Bundy’s Adapt CD

This week wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. But we shall let my grades be the final determiner of that. ANYWHOOO…
The last project for design class was to redesign a CD. So I chose Trace Bundy’s (the acoustic ninja) CD “Adapt.” And after coming out with a design that I thought was fairly solid, my teacher completely shot it down. So I had to rethink a lot of my concept.
FYI: trace bundy is an amazing guitarist who often sounds like five guitars, even though he’s just one guy and he’s just playing one guitar. yes.. it’s sick. it makes me barf.
Here’s the original CD:

the bottom of the tray card.. printed at kinkos, cut with my exacto, taped down with double-sided tape

the tray card.. in the tray. it looks shiny! oOooOOOoOOoo (that’s for you jenny hahahaa)

cd surface. it’s also printed at kinkkos, cut with my exacto and taped down with double-sided tape

the booklet on the left and the bottom of the tray card make up the neck and the bottom of the guitar

the booklet on the left and the cd surface make up the neck and the head w/capos. TRIPPY!

inside booklet with info of songs

front cover. the neck from the tray card helps to continue the neck on the left side through the see-through panel

also to note: the brown background shape is a guitar. which continues throughout the cd. for example.. with the back of the booklet and the cd surface.
everyone liked it. and my teacher said she liked it too. i am at peace.
Cultural Scripture

Today at the EFC Young Adult/College get-together, we went to Brazilian BBQ (yay!). For some reason, someone brought up that in this verse: “Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country, famished. He said to Jacob, ‘Quick, let me have some of that red stew! I’m famished!’(Genesis 25:29-30) that the “red stew” in Chinese is translated to “hong dou tang.”
Of course, that made us joke about how Jesus said that he was the “you tiao” of life. And that the cup in his hand was filled with “dou jiang.”
Sorry for the blashphemy. =(
