Shock and Awe, the Continuing Taiwan 2005 Trip Saga

A few things I need to post in order to help my failing memory… and to elaborate more on certain photos in gallery:

Shei-pa National Park

Lunch with the park people

These are past coworkers of my Aunt while at the Shei-pa national park. In Taiwan, instead of serving for the military, you can opt to do service at the national parks or something. Of those 5 coworkers, three of them are still single, and you know why? It’s cause they love dogs. Loving dogs is hazardous to your romantic life I guess. =(

Fun fact! China, in order to sound like they love the environment, say that they have 6 national parks! Guess where all six of those parks are? YUP YOU GUESSED RIGHT! They’re all in TAIWAN, fools!
For lunch, the waitresses also gave us some free alcohol– plum wine or something weird like that. 12 count. I had to drink it. That’s the last until I hit 21.

Buying Stuff

So I wanted to get a pair of sunglasses. Something stylish that I could wear everyday, and also something that I could wear when I’m playing beach vball. Anyway so we went and this nice lady found me a pair that cost $5800! Okay that’s in Taiwan money… which is still almost like $200 USD. Of course, I’m not going to pay that kind of money. And through bargaining, my grandma got it down to around $2000. Or something like that. What a culture clash! Here in America we might not always like the prices, but we pay it and don’t question it. Here, you get it low enough until you feel bad buying it.

Taiwan? China? Same thing?

Taiwanese Milk

I was enjoying my milk and my dad’s cake, when my cousin sees that the logo on the milk is actually a sticker! He peels it off and lo and behold what do we see! Taiwan Milk was covering up China (Mainland) Milk. Great…Forget that “Two Shores, One China” crap. Let’s just start with “Two Shores, One Milk.”
